According to Kurt Sutter, Jax’s storyline will be explored on many levels in Sons of Anarchy Season 6.
Sutter said as Jax is head of SAMCRO, he finds himself “walking a fine line” and will have “that moment in the next few seasons where he wonders if he’s passed that fine line. And if he has, can he cross his way back?”
In “Sons of Anarchy” season 6, Sutter said it will be harder to determine what Jax “would and wouldn’t do”. This was due in large part to the “contrast of Clay to keep him on the right side. That’s part of the mythology. Now, as they become part of the same individual, those shades are getting much closer,” Sutter said.
Opie’s presence will serve as one of the “emotional broad strokes” for Jax season 6. He feels guilt over Opie’s violent death. Sutter spoke with Charlie Hunnam about his ideas for Jax.
“I told Charlie that one of the driving forces for what Jax will do, and his desire to stay plugged into the club and take the right road, is that he feels the burden and the guilt of Opie’s death and is not going to let that be in vain,” Sutter explained. “It will be Opie saying, ‘You need to finish this ride.’ That will motivate him to do certain things so that A, Opie’s death isn’t in vain, and B, we feel Opie’s presence throughout Season Six.”
BELOW ARE SEASON 6 SPOILERS
When Siff was asked how she felt about the show’s creator — Kurt Sutter — saying that this will be the most violent season yet, she said it got everyone’s attention.
“None of us feel safe. Everybody on this show is like, Oh god. [Laughs] What’s gonna happen? He’s definitely not afraid to have terrible things happen to the people who are involved in the club. That’s one of the consequences of the life, and I think he’s really trying to pull the curtain back on that. I think we all feel like we’re in the homestretch of this series [which Kurt anticipates lasting seven seasons]. It’s gonna be drawn-out and bloody, but we’re all ready for however that plays out.”
